 Nadia Hashimi is a pediatrician, an internationally bestselling author, a first generation Afghan-American and a public speaker. She has written three novels for adults and two for children inspired by the history of Afghanistan and the ongoing struggles of families. Her books have been translated into 12 languages,received starred reviews from Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, School Library Journal and been voted as finalists for Goodreads Books of the Year. She lives with her husband and four children in Potomac, Maryland and also serves as a board member for Aschiana Foundation, an organization that supports educating and feeding Afghanistan's most vulnerable children. She has given talks at medical conferences, writers conferences, colleges, primary schools and spoke at the 2018 Women's March in DC. She is also a 2018 congressional candidate in Marylandís 6th district.
